Touch the Earth

Feeling anxious, scattered, ungrounded? Here is a simple, free, and effective (my favorite type of self-care remedy) technique: Touch the earth. Get grounded, literally.
Put your hands on or in the earth. Stand or walk barefoot on the earth.
Yes, your feet and hands will get dirty, but that’s what hoses are for.
Lie down on the earth. When was the last time you lay on the ground? Unless you are a camper, backpacker, or beachgoer, probably forever.
If you are a gardener, you know what I am talking about. Being in direct contact with the earth is deeply grounding. We can affirm being grounded at any point in time, anywhere, but sometimes your body and your spirit need a literal and direct connection.
Don’t have access to the ground at home? Visit a city park, ask a neighbor, or seek out any exposed dirt. Even in the most urban, cemented-over areas, there are renegade patches of earth to be found.
This is a suggestion that I strongly suggest you don’t simply read about. Do it.
